We flew into Vegas just in time for the 4th of July and stayed in the Stratopshere hotel (courtesy of Mr and Mrs Cardell for my birthday). It was so nice to have our own space and 2 flat screen t.vs! Vegas was not what I expected at all, so much more fun and slightly less tacky. We spent july 4th at a pool party on the roof of our hotel in 40-something degree heat. We went out most nights to the strip, but didn't win more than a dollar between us. My birthday was lovely except my bday cards got lost in the post :( Ross woke me up with a cake, card and balloon. Now I understood where he had disappeared to the day before for a few hours - he claims to have walked for miles and that was why the cake had melted! Anyway so then we went shopping for the day. We got all dressed up and Ross surprised me with a meal at the Bellagio! He'd managed to blag us window seats so that we could watch the fountains. Ross had steak surprise surprise, and I had a rather posh pizza. After that we went for a few drinks at our favourite casino and went to the club that ross had got us VIP for, but they wouldn't let him in without trousers! Oh well.
We left the next day for L.A again on a bus........never again will I get on a bus in America, neverrrr! There were a lot of gangsters talking to us for 6 hours, I even pretended to be asleep so they would leave us alone! Then we got dropped off in downtown L.A, and it tooks us about another 4 hours to reach our hostel. 3 metro rides through the dodgiest parts of L.A, a 2 mile walk in the middle of nowhere, followed by me spotting a big yellow M and Ross' face lighting up, then a taxi. We FINALLY ended up back at our favourite place again in Hermosa Beach. We spent the next 10 days sunbathing, eating, watching sunsets, cycling, watching live bands every night etc etc. I want to live there! We were so so sad to leave. The lady who owns the hostel even gave us a private room free of charge because apparently she liked us!
Then we went to New Orleans and stayed with one of the guys we had met in Costa Rica. His flat was about 5 mins from the centre of town which was perfect. They took us out that night to Bourbon Street where we drank Hurricanes and Hand Grenades. I don't remember much else. The next day I was pretty keen to see the city. Ross, however, only managed to see all the public restrooms (lets just say the Hurricanes didnt agree with him)! I still managed to stroll around the french quarter and listen to some jazz. I wish we had stayed longer because it was one of my favourite places so far.
We landed in Miami a few days ago. I have to say, it isnt one of my favourite places but we are enjoying it for what it is. It is like a ghetto Ibiza. We went on a tour to the Keys which we managed to get for a bargain! And today we went on a trip to the Everglades to see the alligators! We went on an airboat ride which was soooo fun! Anyways, thats enough for now, off to New York in a couple of days woooooooooooooooohooooooooooooo! xx
